Because it's the thought that counts .........
The real division in the U.S. today stems from dichotomous personal ideologies.
• One group believes that they are not responsible for their own family welfare, planning for their future retirement income, or putting forth best effort in their endeavors. They explain away their lack of achievement as bad luck, perceived victimization, or oppressive circumstances. This group believes that small business employers, big business, or government should carry the costs of their family’s welfare, healthcare, retirement income, and relief from their poor choices in overextended borrowing or spending.
Members of this group stop short of adapting to change, developing new skills, or exceeding minimum standards, because they draw a comparison at every opportunity for what they expect to receive per unit of effort.
• The other group rejects defeat, regardless of challenges, hurdles, taxes, or plain humble beginnings. They relish opportunities to expand their knowledge and cultivate their talents, positioning themselves for sudden opportunities. Giving their personal best to every challenge, they reap personal satisfaction from personal achievement alone. They do not concern themselves with the ratio of financial reward to units of effort expended.
When self-motivated trailblazers are criticized, they accept it as a challenge to raise their personal bar to prove the critics wrong.
